The police believed that other obstetricians in Biratnagar were also involved in the act after they detained Dr. Tapeshwarlal Karna, the former director of Koshi Hospital, on the accusation of selling newborn babies to childless couples. This business was discovered after Dr. Karn discovered that a baby born in Greencross Hospital on June 14 was sold for 5 lakh rupees to a Suryanarayan Rajvanshi couple from Kathari Rural Municipality-2 and Adarsh Tol of Morang by a 27-year-old unmarried youth from Bhojpur Hatuwagadhi-4 and his 26-year-old girlfriend. Prior to that, Dr. Karna had defrauded the child's father of Rs 35,000 under the pretense of providing the child with an "address." The child will be given to the child's single mother by the police.
After detaining the Rajvanshi family, 6 other business associates, and doctor Karna—who sells babies—along with other suspects, further investigation is still being conducted, according to Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal. According to Dr. DSP Dahal, despite the buyer couple's admission that they paid five lakhs for the baby, Karna remained silent about the transaction. The buyer and the doctor's assistant had accepted it, he continued, as "the reality of this case is slowly revealed." The authorities have started looking into additional people based on this strong evidence.

In private clinics including Suraksha, Awadhanarayan, Max, Greencross, Saptakoshi, and City, sources allege that Dr. Karna has been selling newborn babies delivered after giving birth to unmarried couples and pregnant women from extramarital affairs for at least 2 lakh to 10 lakh rupees. They used to contact Dr. Karna, who is regarded as the greatest in the area, to perform abortions, operations, and deliveries of pregnant women even though there is an obstetrician in the local private hospital. In light of recent incidences of infant buying and selling, DSP Dahal stated that private hospitals and gynecological practitioners in the Biratnagar area are also being investigated.
