Adipurush was released on 16 June 2023 to highly negative reviews and received severe backlash from both the critics and audience, alike. Raut's direction, dialogues, writing, use of CGI/VFX, badly choreographed action set pieces, modernization of the epic, potrayal of Lankesh, color grading of Lanka, physical appearance of Raghava, editing and three-hour runtime all received huge criticism and was heavily panned. However, the performances, musical score, and soundtrack were highly praised.[10][11][12] It emerged as an epic box office disappointment in the filmography of Prabhas. Many critics slammed it as a terrible and worst adaptation of the Ramayan, whilst also stating that it destroyed the essence of the original source.[1
